Kristina N. Occhino uses color and detailed rendering to capture the romance of the areas she paints. Her favorite subjects are landscape, seascape, street scenes, and flowers. She especially loves to paint outdoors whenever possible. A native of Attleboro, MA, Kris selects scenes from her local area, Rhode Island and Maine that she has fond memories of, as well as, scenes that are in danger of disappearing. ”So much of what was once countryside and farmland has been developed into housing and strip malls. I have learned not to take the remaining green spaces for granted. Painting them locks them in time for me and the viewer.“
Kris Occhino holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Studio Art from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY and a Masters in Art Education from Rhode Island School of Design.
Kris Occhino’s award winning work in watercolor and acrylic has been selected by jurors for regional and national shows and has been exhibited in museums, art associations, galleries, and art festivals in New England. She has paintings in the collection of Assumption College and in many private collections in the US and abroad.
Kris has studied watercolor painting with: Judi Wagner, Carlton Plummer AWS, Peter Spataro NEWS, Ted Minchin AWS, Cindy Baron AWS, Robert Mesrop and Paul George NEWS. She studied Sumi-E painting at RISD with Betty Sarantos.
A much sought after instructor, Kris has done painting demonstrations for many art groups.
Kris is a member of the Canton Art Association, Foxboro Art Association, Franklin Art Association, the New England Watercolor Society and an honorary Life Member of the Attleboro Arts Museum where she once served as the Director. She has achieved Associate Artist membership status at the Lyme Art Association in CT. She is the former Gallery Director of the RI Watercolor Society where she is a Signature Artist Member.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Robin has lived most of his life in New England. He is a painter who works primarily in oils and is drawn mostly to scenes near the coast where he developed a strong affection for the beauty and diversity of life along the ocean’s edge. Robin earned a Master in Fine Arts from Ohio University and a Bachelor in Fine Arts & Education from the University of Massachusetts, North Dartmouth.
Although his paintings have a classic representational approach, they are less about the accurate depiction of a particular landscape than they are about capturing the visual and emotional experience that inspired him to paint the scene. He is particularly interested in painting what it feels like to be in these places surrounded by landscapes filled with sunlight, water and foliage. He strives to accomplish this by focusing on the composition, the color and the light that creates the illusion of space and draws the viewer in and around the painting. Direct observation of nature through plein air studies is essential to his understanding of how light affects color, texture, and form. His paintings originate outdoors where he can work quickly to capture the spirit of the landscape as it inspired him and record as much as possible of the experience on canvas. Many of the paintings are started using acrylics and later finished in oils. He often works on several paintings at a time using layers of paint to create certain effects. Robin continues to work on his paintings in the studio where he combines observation, experience and his own internal vision to finish each piece.
Color & Landscapes in Acrylic.
Instructor: Bruce Wood
Whether you want your paintings to have subtle impressionistic color vibrations or expressive bold colors, this class will guide you to understand how colors work with each other, and how you can control them.
We will explore color theory and how it can be applied in the practical application of acrylic paints.
You will learn to develop a personal color palette, depending on your desired effects.
Other areas will include rhythmic brushwork, composition and design of landscape paintings, along with some historical references.
These classes are for adult students with intermediate or advanced painting and drawing skills. Previous experience with acrylic paint is not necessary.
Bruce Wood's paintings can be identified by the rhythm of their brush strokes and the skillful use of color. He crafts them to convey positive energy and emotion.
In the commercial art world, Wood was a highly paid color transparency retoucher for major corporations including Quaker, Helene Curtis, McDonalds, Keebler, Jim Beam and Coors.
In the fine art world he founded the print making atelier AFA Press, the film production company Dreamfast Cinema, and the former Fenway Galleries in Chicago and Lakeside, Michigan. Currently he is the director of the Woodshed Gallery in Franklin, Massachusetts.
